The Albany Regional Museum will be closed beginning Wednesday, December 31 in observance of New Years. The museum will re-open to the public on Friday, January 2 at 10 a.m.
Visitors returning after the holiday can enjoy the museum’s permanent collections—which highlight the vibrant history of colorful characters, booming industry, and explosive events in Albany's history—along with a remarkable temporary exhibition currently on view:
Oregon's Trail of Tears
On view August 1, 2025- January 31, 2026 (included with admission)
Artist and photographer Nolan Streitberger delves into the tragic history of the forced removal of Southern Oregon tribes, exploring the events that led to this pivotal moment in Oregon’s history. This exhibit shares insights from his meticulous research process, recounting how he retraced the 32-day journey from Fort Lane to the newly established Grand Ronde Reservation, uncovering the camp locations along the route. Descriptions of the historic photographic technique he used to document these sites offer a deeper understanding of why he chose this vintage process. These striking photographs are paired with journal entries of the Indian Agent who oversaw the 1856 removal, providing a poignant connection to the past.
Hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. (closed Sunday and Monday)
Admission: $5 adults; $3 seniors (65+). ARM members, reciprocal members, OR Trail card holders, military, and children (0–13) always receive free admission.
