The current Albany Regional Museum Building was constructed
in 1887 and housed the S.E. Young Company at the corner of
1st and Broadalbin Streets in Albany. In 1912, the
building was moved to it’s current location at 2nd and Lyon,
the area formerly known as “Chinatown.”
The building was purchased in 1999 by the Albany Regional
Museum following a generous donation from Bill & Doris
Scharpf.
The Albany Regional Museum was established in 1980 and was
located in the basement of the Albany Public Library before
moving to it’s current location.
